The Riverside girls played some solid teams at the 2009 WIAA state tournament on their way to a 4th place finish. Congratulations to the team and to our 2009 seniors, Nichole Jackson and Amanda Thomson, who were a big part of the team's success this year. We will miss them as they move on to their respective colleges next year.

Also, a big congratulations to Mercedes Metmore, who led all players in scoring with a 20 point per game average and was selected to the state all-tournament 1st team. Great job Cedes!

A first round win over the Eastlake Wolves, 48-30, matched the Ravens with a strong Moses Lake squad in the quarterfinals, led by Jordan Loera, Carly Noyes and Kelly Sutherland. The Chiefs held on for the 48-44 win and handed the Riverside girls their first loss in three years of state tournament competition. On the third day, Riverside beat a very athletic Garfield Bulldogs team 70-51 to ensure a chance to bring home a trophy. In the trophy game on Saturday the Issaquah Eagles played right with our girls and led throughout the first three quarters until the Ravens finally found the defensive energy that they needed to outscore Issaquah 24-5 in the fourth quarter and come away with a 57-48 win and a 4th place finish.

Another solid season for the Riverside program. After a few days of rest and time away from the gym we bring the girls back together to begin our spring/summer schedule of weights, agilities and fundamentals and then start to practice and play again in local events and then eventually in July at some of the top viewing events on the west coast.
